We Need Community Volunteers on Our Subcommittees
The South Kingstown School Committee is looking for community volunteers to serve on its Subcommittees.

There are positions on the following subcommittees.
Budget
To work with the District Administration to review and vet changes or updates to our annual School District budget, and to make recommendations as needed to the School Committee at large.
Policy
The mission of the policy subcommittee is to ensure that each learner receives an education of the highest quality in a positive environment with caring, dedicated, and effective teaching and administrative staff.
Strategic Planning
To work with the District Administration to develop the District Strategic Plan.
Transportation
To work with the District Administration, the Student Transportation Company, and the Town Police Department to review all things related to and relevant to our student body's transportation to and from school.
Wellness
Per SKSD Policy # 7751: RI General Law (16-21-28) requires the establishment of a District-wide coordinated school health and wellness subcommittee chaired by a full member of the School Committee.
A. The South Kingstown School Committee will establish and maintain a Wellness Committee, co-chaired by a School Committee member and the Superintendent (or designee), and will actively recruit membership annually to include School personnel, including but not limited to:
a. School nurse teachers;
b. Staff member representative from each school in the district;
c. Physical Education teachers;
d. Health Education teachers;
e. Other teachers.
As well as:
f. District/School Administrators
g. District Food Service Director/Manager
h. Students
i. Parents and guardians
j. Community health professionals such as nutritionists, dietitians, doctors, nurses, etc.
B. The members of the Wellness Committee will:
i. Collaborate and coordinate resources to drive school health objectives.
ii. Annually review and suggest updates to the Wellness Policy.
iii. This committee shall meet no less than four times during the school year. All meetings will be public and meeting dates will be posted on the district website.
